We are developing flexible energy surfaces for integration into covers, canopies, marine surfaces and other suitable structures. Membrane and tape formats open opportunities to use surfaces where conventional rigid panels may be difficult to integrate.

HullGuard is AIM’s membrane-based hull-protection concept, being developed to help limit biological growth on submerged hull surfaces while a vessel is moored or anchored.

It explores active surface treatment coordinated with onboard energy management. Effectiveness, durability, environmental compatibility and safe operation must be established through testing before use.

HullGuard uses energy for surface treatment. It is a separate development from our energy-generating membranes.

Further materials research.

Our wider research direction includes surfaces with heating, cooling or lighting functions, and concepts that combine energy generation with storage. These are exploratory development areas with their own material, engineering and validation requirements.

From material to application.

Material samples, product prototypes and application testing will establish useful output, durability and installation suitability. No efficiency, antifouling, thermal or lifetime performance is claimed at this stage.
